I believe God is calling me to share the gospel with students in Spain and I would value your partnership to make this a reality.
As many of you may already know I am in my final year at university studying Spanish and International Business and I am now planning what to do once I have graduated.
Last year, as part of my degree, I studied in Spain and whilst there I was very involved with GBU, the Spanish organisation that oversees the Christian Unions (part of the IFES/UCCF family). During my time abroad God confirmed to me that He was calling me back to Spain. I have always loved the country, the language, the culture, and the people, but whilst living there God showed me the real need that exists in Spain, especially among university students. Despite the main religion being Catholicism, Spain is actually a very atheist country. Spain has many large universities, each with thousands of students, but all with very few Christians. There are roughly 600 students that are involved in GBU in 80 different university groups across the country, whereas in Britain there are 20,000 students involved in Christian Unions. It is into this university mission field that God is calling me to go.
I am very grateful for the encouragement I have received from my home church, Finaghy Baptist Church, who have agreed to send me out to Spain and also the support of European Christian Mission (ECM) who are facilitating this exciting ministry. While in Spain I will be working with GBU, the Spanish organisation that oversees the Christian Union groups in the universities.
The vision of GBU is to give each student in Spain the opportunity to hear and respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, as their mission is to make disciples of Jesus in the student world. This is done through the work of Christian Unions in university campuses; Christian Unions are mission teams that are led by students, resourced by Christian Union workers (like me) and supported by the local church.

Through partnering with ECM and GBU I will be going to Spain for two years where I will be working in one or two universities alongside a student committee (if there is one), encouraging members, holding Bible studies, working with both local and international students, and providing support and guidance for Christian students as they seek to live for Christ in their university. University is such a unique time when students are exploring different world views and are given the opportunity, perhaps for the first time, to explore what they believe or don’t believe, challenge different perspectives and explore new theories; it is at university where decisions are made that will affect the rest of their lives.
I am asking you to partner with me as I go out to Spain to work among university students and give them the opportunity to hear and respond to the Gospel. I ask that you partner with me in prayer, encouragement and in financial support.
I am currently back in Edinburgh now for my last semester at university which will be very busy for me. The plan is to be going to Spain at the beginning of September, if all support and finance can be raised by then. For those who would like to start to support me financially now, my support fund is up and running through ECM.
