Prayer letter #3 July 2016

Hi everyone,Cropped graduation picture

I wanted to send out a quick update on how things are going so far in terms of going out to Spain come September for the start of the Spanish academic year.

So since finishing university in May I have been really focused on support-raising and contacting people to ask if they would partner with me as I go out to Spain to work with GBU. It has been amazing to see how God has been going before me in this! So many people have been praying over this period of support raising and it has been incredible to see how God has been moving and working.

God has really been teaching me over the last few months to trust in Him. It has been such a journey so far, learning not to get disappointed or disheartened as setbacks come, learning to turn back to Him and depend on Him to provide. I have been blown away by who God has brought to support and partner with me. It has been beautiful to see His hand completely in this. It hasn’t been easy, and there is still a way to go before reaching the total for my support fund, but God is faithful and He is going before me in this.

In terms of reaching my target for financial support, I am currently on 65% in total! It has been amazing to see how this support has come in from various individuals and churches who want to partner with me as I go out to share the gospel with students in Spain. My sending organisation, ECM Ireland, have said that they will let me go to out with 80% of finance, so hopefully by the end of the summer that will be reached! So this is where I am at in terms of support so far.

In other new18-28s, I am writing this prayer letter just before I head out to Spain to attend GBU’s student summer camp. The camp is being held in Codeseda, Galicia, in the north of Spain, and is from the 18th to the 28th of July. This is a chance for students to come together from all over Spain and receive Biblical training as well as practical training on how to evangelise on their campus. The theme is Regreso al Futuro – Back to the Future – and during the course of the camp we will be studying the books Ruth and Revelation. There are different seminars and workshops that the students have signed up for, all with the focus of growing deeper in faith and learning how to practically serve God in their university context. This is such an exciting time! I am looking forward to seeing God moving and working in the lives of the students during these 10 days.

At the camp I will also be attending some seminars and workshops and receive orientation training as to what I am going to be doing when I arrive in Barcelona. I will also have an opportunity to get to know the GBU staff and meet those whom I will be serving alongside in Barcelona. I’m really looking forward to the camp and being part of the team as I also get more of an idea of what I will be doing in Spain. I was reminded this week that I am part of the GBU team, and how together we are seeking to serve God in the university context as we work with students. God has completely gone before me and has been leading me to where I am now. My prayer is that I would honour Him with my gifts and talents and use them for His glory, and that I would be able to serve the students in the best way regreso al futuro smallpossible.

After returning from the camp I w ill have a week or so left to raise support before the ECM council meet on the 5th of August. This is to decide whether or not I have enough finance raised to allow me to go in September. Thank you to all of you who have been partnering with me in prayer. This has been a real blessing and so encouraging to see how God has been providing the necessary support so far.

Once I start in Spain, I will be sending out prayer updates once a month and then longer prayer letters every three months. If you would like to receive these monthly updates then please let me know. Thank you again all for your support, whether this is in the form of prayer, encouragement or finance; I really appreciate it! I will be sure to update you all on how the summer camp goes.

Lots of love,

Aislinn xx

Praise and prayer points:

  • Praise God for how He has gone before me in terms of support raising and that I am nearing my final target for finance
  • Please continue to pray that God would provide all the necessary support that I need to be able to go out in September
  • Praise God for the summer camp and for the many students who will be attending the camp this month
  • Please pray that this camp would be a real blessing for both students and GBU staff: that we would each grow in our faith and that the students would leave better-equipped for mission in their universities
